Perfect 10

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! I know I sure did!
And of course, now that Thanksgiving is over, I can begin to watch Christmas Movies 24/7 with NO SHAME.

I apologize now for the extremely long post you are about to read, but I promise that it will totally be worth it. Today I have for you 9, that's right, I said NINE Christmas Movies and one non-Christmas movie!

I'll start it out with the non-Christmas movie, Red Dawn.

THIS MOVIE WAS AMAZING.

I have not seen the original yet, but I plan on seeing it ASAP. I have heard from people that have seen the original that the remake movie is does it justice, so everyone go see it!
Red Dawn is about a group of teenagers who are fighting against the North Korean Army that have invaded the US and are trying to take over. This movie was actually filmed four years ago, but because of some problems with MGM, it was not released into theaters until recently. It has an all-star cast including Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck (a very skinny Josh Peck if I might add), and Josh Hutcherson. The reason I added the tidbit about it being filmed four years ago is because of Josh Hutcherson. He looks MUCH younger that he did in The Hunger Games, and now you know why! I have to say, I was surprisingly impressed with this movie. I went into the theater not knowing a single thing about the movie, except that Josh Hutcherson was in it. (My sister is absolutely obsessed with Hunger Games so we went to see this movie purely because Josh was in it). I will warn you that this is a war movie, so there is a lot of vulgarity and death, unfortunately, but overall I LOVED it. For those of you that saw the original, go see this one anyways! The ending is a bit different, or so I've been told. Personally, from what I've been told, I prefer the ending to the original Red Dawn, but I haven't actually seen it yet, so I can't say much.

Ok, now onto my NINE Christmas movies. I know that sounds like a lot, because it is, but it spans over my whole Thanksgiving Break. Basically all I did the whole break was eat and watch movies. And watch football. It's not Thanksgiving without football...

So I have set another goal for myself, hopefully I can actually finish this one. I plan on watching EVERY Christmas movie available on Netflix through the Instant Streaming. Even the super cheesy kid ones, you'd be surprised at which ones turned out good. To make this easy on y'all, I won't go into full detail for each movie, but rather just give a brief description, my rating, and my suggestion if you should see it or not! Here we go!

1. Good Luck Charlie: It's Christmas
Not a fan at all, but I'm not a big fan of the show Good Luck Charlie either. My mom watched it with me and would've given it two stars, but I give it one. It was an incredibly painful movie to sit through. The family decides to go to Palm Springs for Christmas and everything that could possibly go wrong does. Half the family flies there while Teddy and her mom are stuck back home trying to find an alternate way to get there. They bus, hitchhike, bike, walk, etc. Please don't waste your time watching this movie, it's not worth it AT ALL.

2. Desperately Seeking Santa
This is one of those super cute ABC Family Christmas Movies. I gave it four stars! It starts out like and ABCFam movie does, a blonde girl acts like a major B and finding a man helps her become a better person. (This seems to be the pattern in pretty much all their movies, so original...) In this one, however, the main character is in charge of a mall and to increase revenue for the holiday season, she sets up a "Sexy Santa" contest. The winner, David, and the main girl, Jennifer, do not get along at all, but of course start falling for each other and by the end of the movie, Jennifer must make the choice between her love life and her career. Totally typical ABCFam, but cute nonetheless. Watch it!

3. Holiday Engagement
A first, I didn't think I was going to like this movie, and I literally had to force myself to sit through the whole movie and finish it, but in the end, I'll give it two stars, it was an OK movie. The main character Hillary is super annoying and she looks like she could be related to Amy Poehler. Hillary is worried about bringing her fiancé home for Thanksgiving, and then he calls off the engagement. To prove to her mom that she has a fiancé though, she hires an actor to play Jason, her ex. Shelley Long plays the mom, and she is SO ANNOYING. I love Cheers, but her character Diane always bugged me and Meredith in this movie is just as annoying. Of course, Hillary's plan doesn't go too smoothly and the family learns that "Jason" is actually David the actor, but by then Hillary had already fallen for David. Family drama, fun fun, sounds like a normal holiday in my family household... I'm on the fence about this movie overall. It's cute, but its definitely not one of the greatest Christmas movies. (Actually its a thanksgiving movie...)

4. Saint Nicholas: A Story of Joyful Giving
You can never go wrong with Veggietales. I LOVE Veggietales, they have never disappointed me. This was actually a really interesting story about how Santa came to be and of course it incorporates the true meaning of Christmas, giving and helping others. It has a great moral and a super cute story line. Four stars, show it to your kids, or younger siblings, or just watch it for fun.

5. The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas
First of all, this title is very deceptive. Second, I didn't expect to like this movie, but it did. I gave it two stars, because it was an OK movie overall. It's about a bear who is determined not to hibernate during the winter so he can find out what Christmas is. So he goes on a long journey until he finds out what it is. Aww how cute right? Well this movie definitely had some major flaws, like the fact that the bear can talk to humans and inanimate objects and both can talk back... Anyways, it's pretty cute so you should watch it.

6. The Christmas Orange
This is probably one of the worst movies I had to endure. Can I give it negative stars? It's about this brat who asks for 600 presents but only gets one and an orange. He then precedes to sue Santa, forcing Santa to cancel Christmas. Then everyone hates the kid because he's a selfish little brat who couldn't be happy with what he was given. In the end the kid saves Christmas blah blah blah and everything is right in the world again. Happy ending or not, this kid deserved a spanking and his parents weren't even in the dumb movie... Don't watch this stupid movie.

7. Christmas Classics: Volume 1
This is a collection of animated Christmas shorts from the 50s. According to my sister they were scary. I just thought they were weird. Not really worth your time...

8. Alpha Bots Christmas
This was the absolute WORST movie of all ten I watched this weekend. It's about 26 alpha bots, each representing a different letter in the alphabet, who don't want to wait in their boxes so they escape and play around. Their version of playing is forming each of the 26 letters of the alphabet by working together. But then each of the robots lose all their power so Z Bot saves the day by recharging all of them using his box. Woo skipedee do. This is supposedly a movie for kids age 0-2 but I would never put my child through that kind of torture. Ever.

9. A Very Barry Christmas
I gave this one two stars but it was probably one of the cutest ones I watched. On a test run in his sleigh, Santa falls out and the reindeer mistake Barry for Santa, who look incredibly similar. So basically Santa and Barry trade lives until they are reunited once more. It's pretty cute.
