Scary Movie Season

Halloween is one of the best times of the year in the movie world. It's the time when everyone watches scary movies, despite whether or not they actually like scary movies. You cuddle up under a blanket because its starting to get chilly outside (and because you can hide in it when things get really scary) and then you let the fun begin!

Halloween is this Wednesday, of course, and if you're looking for something scary to watch, I have just the movie.

Grave Encounters is a scary movie that came out about a year ago, and didn't get much time in the limelight. It's considered an "underground" horror movie. It's about a TV show called grave encounters and the movie is the unedited footage shot for the sixth episode of the season.

The TV crew goes to an old abandoned psycho ward, where an old doctor used to perform lobotomy on the patients, and basically all of the patients were trapped in this prison against their own will. There are stories of different suicides within the ward and the most famous story of all is when six patients broke out and murdered the doctor in his dungeon laboratory.

So, the TV crew locks themselves in the ward over night to get all kinds of footage of paranormal activity and from there everything else just goes downhill... I'll let y'all watch it to figure out what happens of course.

The movie was pretty creepy, not gonna lie. I'm not really one to get scared easily at movies, and this was no exception, but it had a few pop-out, freak-out moments. There's also a lot of gore which is just gross.

But anyway... It's a pretty good movie overall, and I don't know about y'all, but I love the thrill of watching scary movies, especially on Halloween!!!

BOO.

Hehe, gotcha didn't I?

Well anyways... Y'all enjoy your Halloween and watch lots of good scary movies for me!

This is NOT Sparta

So far, the best thing about college is when your professor assigns a movie for HW. I could get used to this... Even if the movie does suck, I'll still watch it.

For one of my classes, we had to read the play, The Persians, by Aeschylus II, which is based off of the real life battle between the Persians and Spartans. Then, we had to watch the movie 300, which is also about a battle between the Persians and the Spartans. However, in the play, the Persians and slaughtered. In the movie, the Spartans are slaughtered...

Anyways, back to the movie. It is based on the famed battle the Persians fight at Thermopylae in 480 B.C. King Leonidas, the kind of Sparta, leads 300 men into battle against over 3,000 Persians. Somehow, the Spartans managed to hold off the Persians for three days with little to no casualties, but finally, in the last battle, all the remaining soldiers were killed.

Now, as great and wonderful as this sounds, I really didn't like this movie. I've always wanted to see this movie because it is so famous for it's line when King Leonidas, portrayed by Gerard Butler (one of my favorites), yells "WE ARE SPARTA!!!" and plus I had heard this was a really great movie.

Firstly, I couldn't stand to watch the movie because it all looked like a really bad animation. Secondly, the movie had very little story line, it was just a straight war. It just didn't hold my attention very much. Thirdly, the people in this movie were not attractive AT ALL, and all of them loked like they had fake abs because of the horrible computer graphics...

I really don't have anything nice to say about this movie. I didn't really like it very much, and it certainly didn't live up to it's hype. But, as I said earlier, I will gladly watch movies for Homework... even if they aren't the best movies in the world.

Oh, and just a little warning for those faint of heart. There is A LOT of blood and guts, and a LOT of nudity. You've been warned.

That's All For Now!

Nothing Perky About This Movie

It's no secret that I have been DYING to see The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I have been waiting for this movie to come out since it was announced like 2 years ago, mainly for two reasons: Logan Lerman and Emma Watson. It was finally released Nationwide this weekend, so of course me and one of my best friends jumped at the chance to go this morning!

That is seriously one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen.

Just let that sink in for a little bit. I'm still trying to grasp the whole concept of the movie myself. All I know, is that as soon as it was over, I felt like there was this huge gaping hole in me, like I was missing something. I honestly felt a little depressed, and I still do. That movie is just a straight downer.

I don't know what I was expecting from the movie. I just thought it was going to be a great story about this kid with no friends who finds great friends in HS and they all live happily ever after. Boy was I WRONG.

The characters in this movie all have something terribly wrong with them; they are all these broken souls in deperate need of fixing. Yet, nothing can fix them. Even with this great friendship they have, they are still broken.

I can't really tell you anything else about the movie without spoiling the whole concept, but let me tell you know that if you go and see it, PAY ATTENTION. It can get really really really confusing and they don't start answering any of the million questions you will have until the last 15 minutes of the movie. So prepare to be CONFUSED and DEPRESSED.

Now on the bright side of things, shall we?

I thought that the acting in this movie was SUPERB. Emma Watson proves that she is an AMAZING actress outside of the Hary Potter movies. Not only is she drop-dead gorgeous, but she portrays her character Sam so well, it's like you've known Sam your whole life - she does a spot on job. The other actors are incredible too, allowing you to really connect with the characters, even if you have absolutely nothing in common with them. That's probably why I felt so depressed after the movie, because I felt like I had gone through all the same troubles and traumas of each character.

Needless to say, this movie was not what I was expecting at all, but hopefully y'all will be prepared if you decide to go see it. It's definitely a movie you can't forget, but it's not going to be one of high acclaim either.

I'm not going to tell all of you to go run out and see this movie right now, but I'm not going to discourage you from seeing it either. The choice is yours, just keep in mind what I've said, it is in no way a feel-good high school movie like it appears to be!

That is All....
