I Don't Have A Creative Title For This Post

Well Howdy Everyone!

School starts tomorrow, which is kind of a bummer, but I am so excited to be a part of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2016 (AAAAAAA)!

Anyways.... Yesterday I got a little bored, so I watched a movie of course!
And it was quite a happy surprise if I might say so myself!

One of my favorite actresses is Audrey Hepburn, just in case you were wondering. And part of that is because my mom loves her too (Fun Fact)!

Well, lately, I've been trying to watch her movies, and yesterday I set out to watch Charade. Well, little did I know, I had actually seen this movie many times before, I just never knew that I had seen it! Haha!!!! It's actually my favorite Audrey Hepburn movie! I just didn't know the title I guess...

Oh, well, I watched it anyways! (:

I'm highly disappointed that it's not in "The Book"... But everyone should watch it before they die anyways. (:

This movie was made in a golden era of movies, when movies were still extremely entertaining without everything being so risqué. It had a good, clean plot full if twists and turns and suspense, but yet was comedic and romantic at the same time. You can't find good movies like that nowadays...

Audrey Hepburn played recently widowed Regina Lampert who is being chases by four men from her husband's mysterious past. Mr. Lampert, in her army days, stole a bunch of money from the American Government and was killed by his "friends" because they want the money. Now, these men are after Regina, thinking Mr. Lampert left the money to her. With the help of Cary Grant's character, Peter Joshua, Regina must elude the men, find the money, and return it to the American Embassy.

It's quite a wonderful movie. So go watch it. I will gladly watch it with you!

Goooood Byyyyeeeee. (:
And have a great school year everyone!! (If you're still in school that is)

L.O.L. (That Means Laugh Out Loud)

My next review took a few days for me to actually process... I watched it on Monday, and I honestly still don't know how I feel about this movie.

The genius that is Miley Cryus (and I really hope I can emphasize my sarcasm right now because Miley Cyrus is NOT A GENIUS.) came out with a movie recently called LOL.

Obviously LOL means "Laugh Out Loud" right? Well that's exactly what I did during this absolutely ridiculous movie. But, the movie is called LOL because the main character Lola goes by Lol for short (pronounced like Lull). Honestly though, why does Lola even need to be shortened in the first place!! And on top of that, she was only called Lol like three times the entire movie!!!! Ugh, Miley Cyrus drives me absolute bonkers.

Ok, guess I should kinda sorta tell you about the movie now, huh?

Basically, I think it was supposed to be a drama/romance?! Honestly, I have no idea how to explain this movie. I'm not sure if it even had an actual plot. But here goes nothing...

Lol is IN LOVE with her BF, Chad, but of course they break up two minutes into the movie. And soon Lol falls in love with her BFF Kyle, but "they're just friends, honestly". Oh and towards the end of the movie she becomes a lesbian with her best friend Emily, even though she's dating Kyle...

Yep, I think that pretty much sums it up.

I actually highly recommend a movie night with your best buds and watch this. I actually plan on watching it again soon.

Why you ask? (Because it really was an AWFUL movie).

This movie is extremely HILARIOUS, because it is so absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!!! We made fun of the movie the whole entire time, and I don't think we ever stopped laughing, just because it was so ridiculously horrible.

So grab your buds, some popcorn, and your choice of drink. Prepare for some amazingness that is so awful you just can't help but love it.

It's the bestworst movie of the year! (:

Kbye. <3

Scandalous darling...

Watched another movie from "The Book", what, what?! Yea that's right. I'm up to 70 now! Only 931 more movies to go... (ok, that is depressing. I thought 70 was impressive but not when you look at the other side of things...)

Well anyways, I guess y'all want to know what the movie is right? And whether or not you should watch it right? Ok(: I'll tell you then, you don't have to beg or anything...

The Graduate was considered extremely scandalous to the standards of movies in 1967, but to us here in 2012 it probably wouldn't have even been rated R. But the scandal and sexual tension of the movie is what credited The Graduate as a movie you must see before you die!

However, it wasn't a highly entertaining movie... When you look at it from the perspective of how many barriers it broke down in the film industry then it's amazing, but the movie just wasn't very interesting. Honestly, it was a big old ball of AWKWARD...

The main character, Ben, is played by Dustin Hoffman, an absolutely amazing actor. I think his acting in this move was WONDERFUL! The first half of the movie, he's a very awkward inexperienced college graduate looking to take the next step in his life, whatever that may be. Then Mrs. Robinson comes into the picture. Played by Anne Bancroft - quite spectacularly if I might add - Mrs. Robinson is an alcoholic who just really wants to get in bed with young Ben. Now comes the awkward part. Ben doesn't really know what to do with himself around Mrs. Robinson. Obviously he is very attracted to her, but he knows that their affair is wrong on so many levels, not to mention that her husband is business partner's with Ben's dad!!! Yet they continue the twisted affair for almost three months meeting every night in some old hotel.

Then the second half of the movie, things start to change. Mrs. Robinson's daughter comes into town and Ben falls in love with her. Mrs. Robinson does not like that of course... Then there is this big old hot mess and basically Ben turns into a psycho stalker creep and follows the daughter around every where until he can convince her to marry him. Then there's this really weird kind of depressing but sort of happy ending. I wasn't really sure what to make of it honestly.

And BONUS!!! Mr. Feeny from Boy Meets World plays Ben's dad! Yea!!! But he's really skinny and really young and has a super high voice so it's kind of... Awkward. Just like the rest of the movie!!!

Most awkward scene award: Dustin Hoffman jumping into the backyard pool in full scuba gear. The perspective is from the mask on Ben's face but all you can hear is Ben breathing. You can see everyone at the party shouting stuff and pushing him in the pool but you have no idea what they're saying. Then, there's a virtual tour of the pool underwater, score! AWKWARD!

That is all.

Prepare to Be Amazed!

OK, definitely just read one of the best books ever. I'm not going to even compare it to Harry Potter because nothing is that great, but this series may just give The Hunger Games a run for its money. And I highly enjoyed that series, so this book must be amazing right?!

The series is called The Secrets of The Immortal Nicholas Flamel! Now I know what you're thinking... Isn't Nicholas Flamel a character in Harry Potter?! The guy who worked with Dumbledore and used the Philosopher's Stone?

Yes, that is the same Nicholas Flamel, but contrary to popular belief, Rowling based Flamel off of an actual historic figure. Nicholas Flamel was a very well known alchemist who lived in Paris during the 1400s. He is also the basis for this new series.

Now let me tell you how awesome these books are (so far...). I just finished the first book in the series, The Alchemyst. And it was AMAZING.

So... There are these twins, Sophie and Josh Newman, who happen to cross paths with the legendary Nicholas Flamel. Then, evil Dr. John Dee comes and attacks Flamel, stealing an ancient book called The Codex which holds all of the secrets to alchemy, necromancy, magic, and anything else along those lines. Dee wants to use it to awaken the Dark Elders, ancient magic beings that history refers to in mythology and legends as different Gods, and take over the world and turn it evil. Enter Sophie and Josh. They are part of an ancient prophecy that can either save the world, or destroy it, so the twins must go with Flamel on a journey to stop John Dee.

Another super awesome part of this series is that all the characters (except for the twins) are based off of historical of mythological figures!!! It's a lot like the Percy Jackson series, but way cooler.

So what are you waiting for?! Go to your local bookstore and pick up a copy, you won't regret it!!

Love y'all!

Yeeeeaaaaaa Buddy!

Woot woot!!! Get pumped! Get excited! Because you know what?!?!?! Yea!!! That's what!!! Mmmmhhhhhhmmmmm. Oh yea!!!!

Ok, I'm a little excited can you tell?!
Today marks a very special day!!! I have had this blog for exactly..... Wait for it....

ONE YEAR, SIX MONTHS, AND FOUR DAYS!!!!!!!!! That my friends, is pretty amazing. If I do say so myself...

It has been an incredible journey and I am so blessed for those that have followed me from the beginning and for those that probably just found out about my blog today. BUT!!! You are all very incredibly awesome and I couldn't keep writing without y'all! Now, in saying so, it seems that many people, older and newer followers, don't really know what this blog is really all about.

Let me guess, most of y'all just think that I review movies and I want to see 1001 movies before I die. WRONG. I probably already have seen that many movies, honestly. I love love love to watch movies.

So today's post isn't a review of the latest movie, book, or TV Show that I've gotten into. Today's post is just going to be a recap of the true meaning of my blog.

Here's how the story goes...

Once upon a time there was this little girl named Shelbi who dreamed of becoming a best selling author, much to the likes of J.K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, or C.S. Lewis. Then one day, Shelbi saw a movie called Julie and Julia and she knew that she was meant to start a blog. However, Shelbi needed a topic of interest. In the movie, Julie wrote about the different recipes she made from Julia Child's cookbook. Shelbi did not like to cook. But she loved to read, write and watch movies. Shelbi even had a book called "1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die" (The 5th Edition)! She knew right then and there that her destiny awaited... DUM DA DUHHHHH.

Anyways.... That's how this blog started. That movie inspired me, so I set about to do movie reviews and books reviews. However, the title of my blog is The Quest to See 1001 Movies Before I Die because I want to see the specific 1001 movies from the book I mentioned in the paragraph above. I think that has been confusing some people so I just wanted to clarify. I will, however, watch movies and take suggestions that are not from the book specifically. Also, the title of the book is incredibly long, so in many of my posts, I refer to it as "The Book".

Is everyone on the same page now?! Awesome!!!

I hope to have some more reviews for y'all soon!!!! And don't forget to add your friends to the Facebook group so we can spread the love and the blogging goodness!

Love y'all!!!!!
