More Magical Movies

Everyone get really excited because PITCH PERFECT IS NOW ON DVD AND BLURAY!!!! And you know that I've already watched it quite a few times...

But, also get excited because I have quite a few more movie reviews for you! Y'all know the drill by now right?

1. Barney: Night Before Christmas (1 Star)
What kids didn't watch Barney when they were little? After watching the cooks Christmas special, I don't understand how any kids could find entertainment in this. Lots of little kids singing loudly and playing with a bunch of dinosaurs that conveniently disappear whenever the parents are around... I will give Barney a little credit though, he always seems to teach the kids a good lesson, and this one was just a little more Christmas-y.

2. The Polar Express (3 Stars)
Everyone thinks I'm crazy because I had never seen this movie before, but I really hadn't! It was a cute movie though, it certainly had the Christmas Magic that enforces the belief in Santa in young children. My only complaint is the crude animation. It makes the people look really creepy. My favorite part is the music; the score from this movie is incredible. I can definitely see everyone's draw to this movie though!

3. How About You (2 Stars)
This isn't your typical Christmas movie, that is for sure. It's about a retirement home! A bunch of cooks, grumpy old people live there and drive away any new tenants and most of the workers. However, I the Christmas Spirit they learn that they are just one gigantic dysfunctional family. Also, I'd like to throw out that the lady who plays Professor Umbridge is one of the cooks old ladies.

4. A Golden Christmas (3 Stars)
This was a cute Christmas movie and definitely worth watching. It's about a lady who revisits her childhood home in hopes of buying it. She has a special connection to that house from when she was a little girl and had a little rendezvous with a boy from camp. Little did she know, someone had already bought the house. In her attempt to buy the house from him, she rediscovers her childhood love.

5. A Golden Christmas 2: The Second Tail (3 Stars)
I have to say this sequel was a bit of a disappointment. I had assumed that it would be a continuation from the first love story, but rather it was a totally different love story. The only reason it could be considered a sequel is because the parents from the original movie are in this one. It was still a cute story though and worth the watch!

6. Yes, Virginia (4 Stars)
This is a really cut TV special about a girl named Virginia in the search to find out whether or not Santa is real. I loved this movie because even when Virginia had doubts about Santa, she still embodied the Christmas Spirit, always helping others, even when she was in need herself.

7. Bah Humduck! A Looneytunes Christmas (3 Stars)
If you haven't seen enough movies related to Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, then I have another one for you. This isn't my favorite adaptation of A Christmas Carol, but it puts a different spin on it that could be more relatable to a younger audience.

8. Christmas Lodge (3 Stars)
This is one of the best representations of a good Christmas Story I have seen thus far. It's a good, wholesome, Christian movie, and doesn't glamorize Christmas like Hollywood. You can really see how the people in the movie represent their faith to the fullest. On a side note, the movie is about a woman who helps restore an old lodge she used to spend her childhood Christmases at, all the while finding love in the lodge's new owner.

9. A Magical Cartoon Christmas (2.5 Stars)
This is another collection of short holiday-themed animations. This is my favorite collections of the ones I have seen this year so far, they weren't all super creepy, but rather had a classic animation feel. It did have a few repeats of the ones in other collections though!

10. An Angel For Christmas (2 Stars)
Yet another animation about the true spirit of Christmas, and of all of the movies I've watched this winter, this is the first one that has mentioned the Story of Jesus. It's about a town in Ireland that has forbidden Christmas and an Angel is sent down to bring it back. With the story of Jesus and Christmas on her side, she is able to bring Christmas back as its rightful holiday.

11. Bob the Builder: Christmas to Remember (2 Stars)
Alright, part of me wants to admit that this was actually pretty good, and then the other part of me thinks this was painfully awful. Seriously, the cars can talk to people... AND Elton John is a guest star... BUT, it has a cute storyline. So... I'm torn. Either way, it wasn't the best so far, and it was Bob the Builder... One of the oddest kid shows ever.

ALRIGHT. Now for some more fun non-Christmas movies.

WRECK IT RALPH.
I went and saw this movie the other day, and it was pretty much AWESOME. I don't know about y'all, but when I was younger, I thought that the SuperNintendo was the coolest thing EVER. I played it all the time, I guess you could've called me a gamer. Wreck It Ralph brought back all those awesome memories of playing SuperNintendo when I was a kid. The main character Ralph decides he's tired of being the bad guy in his game so he jumps from game to game to prove that he's more than the villain. There are so many references to games both new and old and it puts a really cool modern twist on arcade games. I strongly recommend this movie to both young and old, although I doubt younger viewers will appreciate the old references as much. My only complaint is the one slip of the tongue when one character calls another character a pussy, which is absolutely unnecessary in a children's movie... But other than that its wonderful!

More movies for y'all later!

Gettin' In That Holiday Spirit

Ok, I am pleased to say I have found the good Christmas Movies that are actually worth watching on Netflix. I've also watched a few not so good ones too, but get excited for the good ones. To make this a little more fun for both you and me, I will progressively build up to the ones that are AMAZING by starting with the sucky ones.

1. Holiday Favorites: Volume 2 (1 Star)
This is some more of those creepy animations from the 50s. I don't understand why they had to draw the creepiest looking kids back then. And the stories are kind of morbid for a children's movie. Like hating your toys and all kinds of nonsense.

2. Holiday Favorites: Volume 5 (1 Star)
This collection is only slightly better than the previous because it consisted mainly of black and white "music videos" of choirs singing classic Christmas Songs/Hymns. That part I liked and sang along too. But another part of it was creepy stories again like The Little Match Girl, a Hans Christian Anderson classic.

3. A Perfect Day (2 1/2 Stars)
Now we're getting into the slightly better movies. This was also a full-length movie! Yahoooo. It's about a man who becomes a very successful author in a short span of time and loses sight of who he really is. It takes outside help, but he finally realizes how far he has strayed from who he is. The only reason it's considered a Christmas movie though, is because it takes place around Christmas time. Still, it has a good moral.

4. Kung Fu Panda: Holiday (3 Stars)
I'm not particularly a huge fan of Kung Fu Panda, but this short animation wasn't too bad. The Panda is supposed to put on this huge dinner for the Kung Fu Masters and gets so caught up in the dinner that he forgets how important it is to spend the holiday with his dad. It wound up being a pretty cute story, that emphasized the importance of family around the holidays.

5. Snow (4 Stars)
6. Snow 2: Brain Freeze (4 Stars)
Alright I'm putting these two movies together because Snow 2 is obviously a sequel to Snow. In Snow, Nick Snowden, who is Santa, must save his reindeer from this evil guy and winds up falling in love with Sandy. They get married blah blah blah and here comes Snow 2! Now Sandy is pregnant, but unable to tell Nick because he falls through his magical portal and forgets who he is, so Sandy must help him discover it without ruining the magic of Christmas. Both movies are ABC Family originals, so of course super cute. Only weird thing is Sandy is played by the same actress that plays Victoria in How I Met Your Mother, so I keep picturing her as Victoria, not Sandy...

7. Dreamworks Holiday Classics (4 1/2 Stars)
SOOOOO FUNNNNNYYYYY. Please go watch this right now. It's four Holiday shorts. One is with Madagascar characters, (and that one was my absolute favorite. Me and my sister have been quoting it for days.) one with just the Madagascar Penguins (another great one), one with Shrek (funny, but kind of weird), and one with How To Train Your Dragon (which was also super cute). All four of them combined are about as long as a regular movie, and they are definitely worth your time. I laughed so hard while watching these and they are cute cartoons. What can I say, I'm a sucker for little kid movies.

Finally, one last movie that you all need to see that is NOT on Netflix, but IS in THEATERS.
The Rise of The Guardians (4 Stars)
In this movie, The Guardian:, Jack Frost, Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy, SandMan, and The Easter Bunny, must work together to stop The Boogyman from diminishing all hope and wonder in the children all over the world. As my sister describes it "TROTG is like The Avengers, but with historical characters." In a way, I can see where she is coming from. I originally thought that this movie was a Christmas movie, based on the commercials, but its actually set in March or April, but its not! Everyone should see it anyways. I was definitely pleasantly surprised by this movie, considering I wasn't planning on seeing it at all,

That's all I have for now! I'm still trying to watch all the Christmas Movies on Netflix, but I keep finding more and more so I'm not sure if ill be able to watch them all! I'll certainly try my hardest though!

It's Christmas Break Y'all

Alright, alright, Christmas Break is finally here! That means I will spend my whole break doing nothing but watching movies and reading books. YEEEEE.

So I already have a plethora (ya like that fancy word?) of reviews for you. I'll make them short and sweet though, I promise. P.S. I've got a special non-Christmas movie related surprise for y'all at the end so be sure to read the whole post. Thanks.

1. Kipper: Let It Snow. (Two Stars)
This was a cute little collection of Christmas/Holiday related episodes of Kipper. I used to like Kipper when I was a little kid. I guess now is no different, I still think its a good wholesome show and I love British Accents. It's mostly about snow and winter though, not so much Christmas.

2. In Search of Santa (Two Stars)
First I'll start by saying the graphics in this movie are definitely low quality, so it kind of bugged me to watch the movie. Other than that it had a different story line from the typical Christmas movie, which was nice. It's about these penguin sisters who have to go get proof that Santa is real in order to save their kingdom. The weirdest part of this movie was that Hilary and Haylie Duff are the voices of the penguins, so I had this urge to start watching Lizzie McGuire...

3. The Christmas Bunny (Three Stars)
This has got to be one of the most depressing Christmas movies I have ever seen. It's about this girl who is adopted by this family, but she is really reclusive and doesn't want to open herself up Eventually, she finds this bunny whom she finally finds companionship in. The ending is super happy and makes you feel all warm inside and all of that junk that comes with every Christmas movie, but the rest of it kind of made me want to cry... But, I will admit that a lot of movies make me want to cry.

4. The Tangerine Bear (Three Stars)
This has probably been one of the cutest Christmas movies I have seen so far this year. It's the story of a bear who's smile was sewn on upside down (so it looks like he is frowning) so no one wants to buy him for Christmas. Eventually he learns that he can be loved by the last person he would've expected and makes a bunch of new friends. It's a cute movie with a great moral, especially in the spirit of Christmas.

5. Santa and the Three Bears (Two Stars)
This movie was not that great. It's a typical bear Christmas movie where the bears try to stay awake during hibernation period to find out all about Santa and Christmas but of course nothing goes as planned until the end when they finally see Santa. Hoo-Rah.

6. Fat Albert's Christmas Special (Two Stars)
I had never seen an episode of Fat Albert until I watched this, and let me just say that show is creepy. The Christmas special had a bit of a Christmas Carol feel to it. A grumpy old man is stingy with his money but by the end of the movie has changed his ways to help the less fortunate. Also, I noticed that there wasn't a single white character in this movie... But as always it has Bill Cosby's wonderful humor in it.

7. The Littlest Angel (Three Stars)
Great movie that really truly embodies what the true Christmas Spirit is about. I highly recommend that everyone watch it this Christmas. It's only 24 minutes long, so I know you all have time you can spare to watch this cute movie.

8. Christmas Time in South Park (One Star)
This is a compilation of seven Christmas related episodes of South Park. I have gone my whole life without seeing a single episode of South Park and I am absolutely disgusted by that show. It is so sacrilegious in so many ways. And don't get me wrong, I can tend to have a sick, twisted sense of humor, but they really over do it. All of these episodes focused on Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo and I swear I thought they were going to make me barf by the end of it... Definitely not my kind of show.

9. He-Man and She-Ra: A Christmas Special (Two Stars)
Talk about a weird show... I don't exactly understand the concept of this one at all. These two kids wind up on another planet and some weird skeleton thing is trying to kidnap them or something so He-Man and She-Ra have to rescue them, as well as get them back to earth before Christmas.

NOW FOR THE BEST PART.

I FINALLY WATCHED 21 JUMP STREET PEOPLE. THAT IS POSSIBLY ONE OF THE FUNNIEST MOVIES I HAVE EVER SEEN. LIKE SERIOUSLY, IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT GO WATCH IT RIGHT NOW, I'LL GLADLY WATCH IT AGAIN WITH YOU.

And, I'm going to try and find the original show, starring Johnny Depp, and watch that as well. I've heard it was a good show back in the day.

Ok that's all for now, keep looking back often over break or you'll fall behind and nobody wants that!
